Two U.S. Service Members Killed and One Missing After Iranian Missile and Drone Attack in Jordan
U.S. Central Command reported two service members killed and one missing following Iranian ballistic missile and drone strikes in Jordan, where Jordan intercepted ten missiles.
Two U.S. service members were killed and a third remains missing after Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks in Jordan on Friday, U.S. Central Command said. Four other service members who were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals have been discharged, and those with minor injuries have returned to duty.
Jordan’s military earlier reported intercepting ten Iranian missiles that entered its airspace overnight, saying no damage was recorded. The United States has conducted its seventh consecutive night of strikes against Iran since President Donald Trump declared a temporary cease-fire agreement void.
"Two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. Additionally, one service member is currently missing," the command said, adding that it would withhold further details until families are notified.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed, via Iranian state media, that it destroyed at least two U.S. fighter aircraft at the Al-Azraq base in Jordan early on Saturday. The U.S. military declined to comment further on the claim.
The death toll for U.S. personnel in the ongoing conflict has risen to 16, after a Navy pilot missing earlier this month was declared dead. Iranian state media, citing the health ministry, said more than 500 people have been injured and at least 50 killed in U.S. strikes over the past three weeks.
In a written statement, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei criticized the United States, saying repeated breaches of the cease-fire agreement have shown the U.S. president’s signature to be "utterly worthless and devoid of credibility."
