86-year-old Paul Pelosi charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run in Napa County
Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was charged Friday with a misdemeanor hit-and-run and a traffic infraction after allegedly striking a parked vehicle on July 3.
Napa County prosecutors filed a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge against Paul Pelosi, 86, on Friday, stemming from a July 3 incident in which he is accused of hitting a parked Tesla with his burgundy Maserati convertible and leaving the scene without providing required information. Deputies later located him about half a mile away, where he told officers he had intended to return to the scene.
The district attorney’s office said the case also includes an infraction for an unsafe turning movement. While the office typically does not release notices for misdemeanor hit-and-run cases involving only property damage, it issued a statement citing the significant public and media interest in the matter.
Pelosi, a venture capitalist who maintains a residence in Napa County, previously pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI in 2022 after a separate crash in the same county. He was sentenced to probation, restitution, fines, a DUI education program and the installation of an ignition interlock device. Earlier reports also noted prior driving infractions in several Bay Area counties.
His first court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 14 in Napa County Superior Court.
