Amazon recasts Kratos in God of War series after lead actor's injury

Resumen

Ryan Hurst, who was cast as Kratos, suffered a bicep tear on set, prompting Amazon to replace him and pause production, which had already completed four episodes.

Amazon Prime Video is set to replace Ryan Hurst as Kratos in its upcoming God of War television adaptation after the actor tore a bicep while performing a stunt in late June. Hurst, who had bulked up for the role, underwent surgery and faces a four- to six-month recovery period, leading the studio to recast the part rather than delay filming for an extended time.

According to industry reports, production on the series was halted after the injury, with four full episodes already filmed. Preparations for the new lead are slated to begin in August, and shooting is expected to resume in October. The show has been ordered for two seasons, which are planned to be filmed back-to-back.

The announced cast includes Callum Vinson as Atreus, Ed Skrein as Baldur, Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Alair Duncan as Mimir, Danny Woodburn as Brok, and Jeff Gulka as Sindri.
