U.S. Central Command said the latest airstrikes hit bridges, a railway junction and a maritime tower in southern Iran, while Iran reported civilian casualties and retaliatory missile and drone attacks on regional U.S. bases.

The United States carried out a seventh consecutive night of airstrikes against targets in southern Iran, focusing on bridges, a railway junction near Bandar Abbas and a maritime control tower in Chabahar, according to U.S. Central Command. The strikes were described as aimed at degrading Iranian military logistics and maritime capabilities.

Iranian state media reported that at least eight people were killed and 20 injured, and that six bridges, including one under construction, were hit. A railway station west of Bandar Abbas and power infrastructure in the south were also damaged, prompting the Energy Ministry to ask residents to reduce electricity use.

In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it launched missiles and drones toward U.S. bases in Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar, and claimed attacks on radar sites, missile launch platforms and a U.S. Special Operations center in Syria. A child was reportedly injured by shrapnel in Qatar, and air-raid sirens sounded in Bahrain.

The escalation follows the collapse of a ceasefire that had briefly eased traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil transit route. Shipping volumes have fallen sharply, with only a handful of vessels transiting the strait this week. The United States has reimposed a naval blockade, urging ships to route closer to Oman.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Iran has expressed a desire to negotiate, and the administration noted the recent release of an American citizen held in Iran. No comment was received from the Pentagon on the latest Iranian claims.
