Israeli drone strike on Gaza funeral procession kills eight, injures dozens
An Israeli drone attack on a funeral procession in the Nuseirat refugee camp killed eight Palestinians and wounded at least 20, while other strikes across Gaza killed additional civilians.
Eight people were killed and at least 20 injured when an Israeli drone struck mourners gathered outside the Ahmad Yassin Mosque in the Al-Balata market area of Nuseirat refugee camp, Gaza, on Friday, according to the local civil defence agency and Al-Awda Hospital. Witnesses said the strike hit the funeral procession for a Palestinian killed earlier that day in the same vicinity.
The Israeli military confirmed the operation, stating it targeted a "terrorist" cell in central Gaza and said it was reviewing claims that uninvolved civilians were harmed.
Hamas condemned the attack, describing it as a violation of the cease-fire agreement and accusing Israel of continuing to kill civilians.
Other incidents reported on Friday included the death of a 52-year-old woman in Beit Lahia after a drone bomb fell near a school, a civilian killed in Az-Zawayda, another fatality in al-Sawarha when a building housing displaced persons was hit, and a drone strike on an apartment in Gaza City that killed a resident and wounded several, including children.
The cease-fire that began in October has not halted Israeli operations, with the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data (ACLED) group noting more than 40 strikes in the previous month, the highest since the truce started.
