Kim Kardashian Says Lake Post Was Pre-Scheduled After Grandmother's Death
Kim Kardashian explained that a bikini photo carousel posted on Instagram was scheduled before her grandmother Mary Jo 'MJ' Shannon died, after facing criticism for its timing.
Kim Kardashian faced criticism on Instagram after a carousel of photos showing her and sister Khloé in bikinis at a lake was posted on July 16, the same day news of their grandmother Mary Jo "MJ" Shannon's death was announced. Users questioned whether it was appropriate to share the images while the family was grieving.
The reality TV star responded, stating the post had been scheduled several days before the grandmother's passing and was not intended to coincide with the news. > "This post was scheduled a few days ago before we lost MJ, so its timing came right alongside her passing. I've been by my mom and grandma's side this past week, and my heart is completely with my family right now. We love and miss her so deeply, and in the days ahead, we'll be focusing on celebrating her beautiful life," she wrote.
An hour later, Kardashian posted a tribute to her grandmother, describing her as a "best friend" and "the matriarch of our family" and recalling lessons she had learned from her. Kris Jenner also shared a condolence message, emphasizing the importance of family values taught by MJ. The incident adds to previous instances where members of the Kardashian family have been criticized for social-media posts perceived as insensitive.
