Kris Jenner mourns mother Mary Jo "MJ" Shannon, who died at 91

Kris Jenner posted on Instagram on Thursday, July 16, confirming that her mother Mary Jo "MJ" Shannon had died at 91. Shannon, who appeared frequently on the family’s reality series, was described by Jenner as the emotional core of the family.

"There are no words that could ever capture what she has meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye," Jenner wrote, adding that her mother taught her to love family fiercely, be kind and cherish each moment together.

Jenner also noted that Shannon’s lessons on resilience, faith and unconditional love shaped her own approach to life and parenting. The post mentioned that Shannon had previously run a children’s boutique in San Diego and had been married to businessman Harry Shannon for four decades until his death in a 2003 car crash.
