Eric Stonestreet comments on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Madison Square Garden wedding

Résumé

Actor Eric Stonestreet said the ceremony was respectful and generous, noting the venue’s security and charitable donations.

Actor Eric Stonestreet told People magazine that he and his wife initially kept quiet about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding out of respect for the couple. He said they were proud to attend once details emerged.

Stonestreet, a longtime Kansas City Chiefs fan, recalled presenting Swift with an award at the 2012 American Music Awards and said he has known Kelce since his draft. He added that the couple’s relationship made him happy for both of them.

“I think my favorite moment was just that they created a place that they could have the normalcy that they deserve,” he said, noting that Madison Square Garden provided security and allowed guests to enjoy the evening.

He also highlighted the event’s charitable aspect, saying the couple’s donations to organizations in New York, Kansas City and elsewhere were a “gesture” to invited guests.

New York City officials confirmed Swift paid $160,000 for the wedding permit, and the couple reportedly donated $26 million to more than a dozen charities. The ceremony was officiated by Adam Sandler, with Austin Swift serving as man of honor and Jason Kelce as best man. Attendees included Jack Antonoff, Bradley Cooper, Lena Dunham, Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Jessica Chastain, Dakota Johnson and Jason Sudeikis.
