Former child star Daveigh Chase left $400,000 estate despite homelessness

摘要

Court documents show actress Daveigh Chase owned personal property valued at about $400,000 at the time of her death, while she was living on the streets of Los Angeles.

Court filings reveal that actress Daveigh Chase, known for her roles in "The Ring" and as the voice of Lilo in "Lilo & Stitch," owned personal property estimated at $400,000 even though she was homeless in downtown Los Angeles when she died at age 35. Her mother, Cathy Chase, has petitioned the court to be appointed administrator of the estate.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner listed acquired immunodeficiency syndrome as the primary cause of death, with chronic polysubstance use also noted. Chase had no children and was not married.

"Daveigh Chase, my girlfriend, has always been a light in my life. Many people know her as a talented childhood actor..." wrote Roy Hernandez in a GoFundMe campaign he created to support her in her final days.

Chase's former manager, John Ryan, cautioned fans against donating to the campaign, stating that a trust account with SAG covered her expenses and that she had substantial unclaimed residuals.

"I can confirm Daveigh has a trust account set up at SAG to cover all costs," Ryan told a news outlet.

Ryan also said he and Chase's stepsister had hired a private investigator in 2025 to locate her, but she disappeared again after a brief phone contact.

The case highlights the contrast between the actress's financial assets and her precarious living situation at the time of her death.
