Apple launches first public beta of macOS Golden Gate

Summary

Apple has made the initial public beta of macOS Golden Gate available, extending the macOS 27 testing program to non-developer users.

Apple announced the release of the first public beta of macOS Golden Gate, opening the macOS 27 testing program to users who are not developers. Interested participants can register on Apple’s beta website and enable the update through System Settings > General > Software Update.

The new version brings the same Siri AI capabilities found in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, accessible via Spotlight with a Command + Space shortcut. Siri can browse the web, retrieve information from personal data such as photos, emails and messages, and perform actions across apps. A dedicated Siri app allows ongoing conversational interactions, and Visual Intelligence lets Siri analyze on-screen content.

Design updates include a refreshed Liquid Glass interface with a transparency slider, adjusted opacity for complex content, and refined window styling that reduces rounded corners. Toolbars now have uniform headings, sidebars extend edge-to-edge, and window placement is more consistent on external displays.

Productivity enhancements feature "Write with Siri," which can generate text, correct grammar and provide writing feedback, as well as new AI-driven editing tools in Photos. Shortcuts support natural-language automation, and search functionality has been improved in Mail and Messages. Apple also reported performance gains that aim to deliver a faster, smoother experience on older Mac models.
