Apple rolls out macOS Golden Gate beta 8 for developers
Apple has released the eighth developer beta of macOS Golden Gate, adding design tweaks and new AI-powered features such as Siri AI and visual intelligence.
Apple made the eighth beta of its upcoming macOS Golden Gate available to developers, a week after the seventh beta was seeded. The build can be downloaded through System Settings → General → Software Update, provided beta updates are enabled and a free developer account is used.
The update introduces several visual refinements, including clearer Liquid Glass opacity, a transparency slider, and adjusted window shadows to better indicate active windows. Applications now feature uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, reduced corner rounding, and fewer menu-bar icons.
Siri has been rebranded as Siri AI, a chatbot-style assistant that combines general knowledge, personal data and on-screen awareness. It is integrated into Spotlight, accessible via the new Search or Ask interface, and a dedicated Siri app lets users view past conversations and set custom voices on newer Macs. Visual Intelligence enables Siri to answer questions about screen content, while a Write with Siri feature assists with text generation and editing.
Additional AI capabilities include photo editing tools in the Photos app, AI-driven tab organization in Safari, automatic password strengthening in the Passwords app, and an updated Image Playground that can generate photorealistic images.
Further details on the new features are available in a macOS Golden Gate roundup.
