Jannik Sinner defeats Alexander Zverev to retain Wimbledon title

Resumen

Jannik Sinner won his second consecutive Wimbledon championship, beating Alexander Zverev 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 in the 2026 men's final.

Jannik Sinner retained his Wimbledon crown on Sunday, overcoming Alexander Zverev in a four-set final, 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4. The victory marked Sinner's fifth Grand Slam title and his tenth straight win over Zverev.

Sinner, who entered the tournament without Carlos Alcaraz, had previously defeated the Spaniard in last year’s final. After a five-set quarter-final win over Miomir Kecmanović that left his foot bleeding, Sinner won all subsequent matches in straight sets, including a semifinal triumph over Novak Djokovic.

Zverev, a 6-foot-6 power server, started strongly and claimed the first-set tiebreak, but Sinner rebounded to take the second set in another tiebreak. The match turned in the third set when Zverev slipped and fell after a drop shot, appearing to injure his knee. Sinner broke serve shortly thereafter and held the advantage for the remainder of the match.

Statistically, Sinner recorded 58 winners to 25 unforced errors and won 80% of first-serve points and 75% of second-serve points. The contest lasted three hours and 47 minutes, keeping Sinner under the three-hour-fifty-minute threshold that has previously eluded him.

"I’m happy to have helped Alexander up after his fall," Sinner said after the match, emphasizing sportsmanship.

The win extends Sinner’s dominance over Zverev, who has not beaten him in their last seven meetings.
