Police confirmed that at least two people were killed and several others injured during a shooting at Toronto's Salsa on St. Clair festival, the city's largest Latin street celebration held annually for more than two decades. The incident occurred after sunset as crowds gathered on a warm summer evening for music and dance. Law enforcement secured the scene about an hour after the gunfire began and advised the public to avoid the mid-city area. Six victims were found with gunshot wounds, and a large police presence remained at the location. Authorities said the shooter or shooters have not been apprehended.
"We are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information to come forward," a police spokesperson said. The festival organizers and city officials have not yet provided comments.
