The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has issued a stark warning that Gaza is on the brink of famine, with widespread starvation and malnutrition escalating rapidly.
The IPC report highlights that two of the three famine thresholds have been breached in parts of Gaza. Food consumption has plummeted, with more than one in three people now going days without eating. Acute malnutrition among children under five has quadrupled in Gaza City over two months, reaching 16.5%.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denied the existence of a hunger crisis in Gaza, stating, "There is no policy of starvation in Gaza, and there is no starvation in Gaza."
The IPC emphasizes the need for immediate action to end hostilities and allow for unimpeded, large-scale humanitarian response to prevent further deaths and catastrophic human suffering.
