Red Sox defeat Mets 6-2 after delayed flight from Chicago

Resumen

Boston overcame travel delays to beat New York 6-2 on Friday, extending its winning streak to seven games.

The Boston Red Sox won 6-2 against the New York Mets on Friday night after a delayed flight from Chicago forced the team to scramble to reach Citi Field. The team departed Chicago around 3:00 p.m. ET and landed just before 5:00 p.m., prompting a 35-minute postponement of the game’s start time. The Red Sox had roughly two and a half hours to deplane, travel to the stadium and prepare for the contest.

Boston took an early 2-0 lead when Masataka Yoshida drove in two runs, and the offense continued to build, ultimately posting six runs. The Mets managed two runs, but could not overcome Boston’s advantage.

“They were ready to play,” manager Chad Tracy said during the broadcast, noting the team’s focus despite the travel challenges.

The victory marked the Red Sox’s seventh consecutive win and their 12th triumph in the last 14 games. The Mets fell to 40-54, remaining at the bottom of the National League East.
