Florida judge denies GPS monitor requirement for ex-Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold

A Florida judge ruled that former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold can remain without a GPS ankle monitor, allowing him to continue workouts with NFL teams while under bond.

A Hillsborough County judge rejected a request to impose a GPS ankle monitor on former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, permitting him to keep training with NFL teams while he remains on bond. Arnold turned himself in on June 24 in connection with a February 2026 kidnapping and robbery case in the Tampa area and is currently under a $1 million bond with home confinement, except for work and legal appointments.

Prosecutors argued that Arnold’s release conditions should be tightened because his status as an NFL player had changed after the Lions cut him, a shift that they said met the legal standard for modifying bond terms. The judge declined to alter the conditions.

Arnold’s representatives contended that a GPS monitor would hinder his ability to sign with another team. Agent Nicole Lynn testified that the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts had contacted her within 24 hours of his release, and that Arnold had already completed a workout with the Texans and had another scheduled.

"He actually had a workout with the team, an NFL team, just yesterday. So he was in their facility, they paid for him to fly in, he did a physical, which shows you how serious these teams are about him," Lynn said. "With an ankle monitor, it would be extremely difficult and maybe even impossible for him to get a job."

Lynn added that there is a "very good likelihood" Arnold could be signed within 45 days, though she stopped short of guaranteeing a contract. Arnold cleared waivers on Monday and became an unrestricted free agent after being selected in the first round of the 2024 draft out of Alabama.
