Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max may weigh 240 grams, matching earlier models
Leaked specifications suggest the iPhone 18 Pro Max could be about 2 mm thicker and feature a 5,500 mAh battery, bringing its weight to roughly 240 g, the heaviest for the brand in several years.
New leaks indicate Apple’s next flagship, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, may be about 2 mm thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, whose thickness reaches 13.18 mm at its camera module. Regulatory filings and earlier reports point to a battery capacity of roughly 5,500 mAh, a notable increase from the 5,088 mAh (eSIM) and 4,823 mAh (physical-SIM) capacities of the previous model.
A Weibo source identified as Ice Universe shared a translation stating the larger battery would result in a chassis weighing around 240 g and measuring 9 mm in thickness. That weight would align the iPhone 18 Pro Max with the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max, both of which also weighed 240 g, and exceed the weights of the iPhone 15 Pro Max (221 g), iPhone 16 Pro Max (227 g) and iPhone 17 Pro Max (233 g).
The shift in material composition may explain recent weight variations: the iPhone 13 and 14 Pro Max used stainless steel, the 15 and 16 Pro Max switched to titanium, and the 17 Pro Max returned to aluminum. Current rumors suggest the iPhone 18 Pro Max will continue with an aluminum frame, implying that the added mass is primarily due to the larger battery and thicker design.
