Google begins rolling out July security patch for Pixel devices

Google has begun phased deployment of its July 2026 security update for Pixel 6 through Pixel 10 series devices. The update, identified as version vCP2A.260705.006, includes fixes for early-stage issues reported after the Android 17 launch.

One of the addressed problems affects the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, where navigation buttons could shift alignment when the device was folded and unfolded. The patch is expected to resolve this behavior. Another fix corrects a wallpaper-shape rendering error that caused the effect to cover the main subject instead of appearing in the background on all supported Pixels.

Additional changes cover unexpected app closures, incorrect widget colors or contrast, and rare boot-loop conditions on certain devices. Google noted that a separate widget-disappearance issue, reported by users after upgrading to Android 17, remains under investigation and will be included in a future quarterly update.

The company also announced that Android 17’s first quarterly update has reached Platform Stability with Beta 6, allowing developers to test APIs ahead of broader release.
