White House opens 25 Freedom Fuel stations in Philadelphia area at $3.47 per gallon

Summary

The administration inaugurated 25 Freedom Fuel gas stations in the greater Philadelphia region, pricing gasoline at $3.47 per gallon, slightly below the national average of $3.79.

The White House announced on July 7 that it has opened 25 Freedom Fuel gasoline stations in the greater Philadelphia area, each selling fuel at $3.47 per gallon. The price is modestly lower than the national average of $3.79 per gallon reported by AAA on the same day.

The rollout was promoted on the administration’s X account with a video featuring customers expressing appreciation for the lower price. One customer said the station saved him money, noting that he had expected higher costs.

The initiative arrives amid ongoing public concern about fuel prices ahead of the November midterm elections. While the Freedom Fuel price is below the national average, it remains close to prevailing market rates.

National gasoline prices have fluctuated this year, reaching nearly $5 per gallon in May before declining following a tentative agreement between the United States and Iran that eased tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route for crude oil. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, pump prices are influenced by crude oil costs, refining, distribution, marketing, and taxes.

AAA data for July 7 showed higher average prices in Hawaii, California and Washington—above $5 per gallon—while states such as Indiana, Oklahoma and Texas reported some of the lowest prices. The locations of the Freedom Fuel stations are listed on the program’s website.
