U.S. captain Tim Ream and goalkeeper Matt Freese were highlighted for defensive lapses, and forward Christian Pulisic left the field in the second half with a leg injury. Coach Mauricio Pochettino made several substitutions at halftime, including bringing on Gio Reyna and removing Sergiño Dest, but the changes did not alter the outcome.
