Apple Intelligence Home features will need 2TB iCloud+ subscription in iOS 27

Summary

Apple announced that using its new Intelligence-powered Home app functions will require a 2TB iCloud+ plan, priced at $9.99 per month, starting with the iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate releases.

Apple disclosed that the Home app’s new Intelligence-driven camera capabilities will be available only to users subscribed to at least a 2 TB iCloud+ plan. The detail appeared in the notes for the third macOS Golden Gate beta released today.

In iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate, the Home app can generate written summaries of motion alerts from HomeKit Secure Video cameras, combine footage from multiple cameras into an activity overview, highlight notable recordings and support natural-language searches.

"Some Apple Intelligence features will require an iCloud+ plan," the company said at WWDC, adding that the Home features specifically need the 2 TB tier. The plan provides 2 TB of storage for $9.99 per month.

HomeKit Secure Video has always required a paid iCloud plan; the 50 GB tier supports one camera, the 200 GB tier up to five, and the 2 TB tier allows an unlimited number of cameras. Video storage does not count against the plan’s storage limit, leaving the full 2 TB available for photos and other data.
