NYPD detective wounded in early-morning shooting in Brooklyn, teen arrested
A detective was shot in the vest during a 4:14 a.m. incident in Crown Heights and transported to a hospital with minor injuries; an 18-year-old suspect was taken into custody and a firearm recovered.
Police responded to a 911 call at 4:14 a.m. on Sunday reporting gunfire at the intersection of Nostrand Avenue and St. Johns Place in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. A detective was hit in the vest and suffered minor injuries, after which he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Law enforcement officials said an 18-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and a gun was seized. A press conference is scheduled for later Sunday to provide further details.
The investigation remains ongoing.
