Eight injured, including four children, in Coney Island shooting on July 4
A July 4 shooting in Coney Island left eight people wounded, among them four minors aged 6 to 14, with a 21-year-old woman in critical condition.
Police said a shooting late on July 4 injured eight people at 2929 West 31st Street in Coney Island, New York. A 21-year-old woman suffered a chest wound and remains in critical condition, while the other victims are in stable condition. Four of the injured are children; a 7-year-old boy was shot in both legs, a 12-year-old boy in one leg and a 14-year-old boy in the thigh, and the youngest child, aged six, was wounded in the stomach.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting multiple gunshots and found eight individuals with gunshot wounds, who were taken to several local hospitals. A firearm was recovered at the scene, but no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
