A free concert titled “One Philly: Unity Concert for America” took place on Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway on July 4, featuring a lineup that included Christina Aguilera, Meek Mill, Jill Scott, the Roots with Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kathy Sledge, State Property, Seal and others. The event, hosted by comedian Wanda Sykes, opened its gates around 4 p.m. and began at 5 p.m. Eastern time, with live streaming provided by NBC10. After the musical performances, a fireworks display was scheduled to start at 11:30 p.m. The city confirmed the show would proceed despite rain, though a severe thunderstorm warning forced a brief delay around 8:40 p.m. The concert proceeded as planned, concluding with the fireworks display.
