Three Children Killed After Boat Capsizes on Geneva Lake Amid Storm
A private motorboat capsized on Geneva Lake during a severe storm, killing three children and rescuing seven other passengers, authorities said.
Three children died Friday afternoon after a private motorboat capsized on Geneva Lake in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The vessel, attempting to reach safety amid powerful storms that battered several local communities, overturned and sank. Emergency crews rescued six adults and one child, while the three missing children were later recovered from the water and pronounced dead at a hospital. All four children on board had been wearing life jackets, police noted.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Geneva Lake Law Enforcement Agency are conducting a joint investigation. > "The Geneva Lake Law Enforcement Agency and the Wisconsin DNR, extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy," the agency said in a news release. > "This incident serves as a reminder of how quickly severe weather can develop on area waterways.
