LeBron James' Agent Highlights Cleveland as Top Option Among Multiple NBA Teams
Agent Rich Paul indicated that the Cleveland Cavaliers are among several clubs being considered for LeBron James, noting personal connections and roster factors that could influence a potential return.
Agent Rich Paul discussed LeBron James' free-agency prospects on his "Game Over" podcast, revealing a whiteboard that listed the Cleveland Cavaliers as a leading candidate. The board also included the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets as possible destinations, with the Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks noted on its periphery.
Paul said that a strong personal rapport with assistant general manager Brandon Weems, whom he described as "basically LeBron’s brother," is a significant factor favoring Cleveland. He also mentioned positive relationships with owner Dan Gilbert, co-owner Grant Gilbert and executive Koby Altman.
Among the drawbacks, Paul noted the absence of a trade for point guard Darius Garland, a player James reportedly admires, and expressed no interest in a proposed trade involving forward Evan Mobley. "They weren’t giving up Evan Mobley, you don’t have to worry about that," Paul said, indicating that Mobley is not expected to be moved.
James has already ruled out a return to the Los Angeles Lakers, and Paul’s comments suggest that Cleveland remains a strong possibility as negotiations continue.
