Taylor Swift and Travis Kelke Celebrate Wedding at Madison Square Garden with Tight Security
Around 1,000 guests attended the couple's ceremony and reception at Madison Square Garden on Friday, with extensive security measures and street closures surrounding the venue.
Madison Square Garden in New York City hosted the wedding of singer Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce on Friday, accommodating roughly 1,000 attendees, law-enforcement sources said. A rehearsal dinner for about 100 family members and friends was held at the arena the night before, with guests arriving via a designated VIP entrance.
The ceremony began at 5:30 p.m., followed by a reception expected to continue until the early hours of Saturday. Private security teams and the New York City Police Department were deployed to manage fans and media, and streets around the venue were closed to traffic.
"This is going to be an absolute, spectacular blowout," People magazine editor Charlotte Triggs told CBS Mornings, noting that the arena had been extensively transformed for the event.
Event planners described the setup as comparable to a blockbuster film production, with large set pieces and a garden-themed décor, including a bar stretcher labeled "trees." The couple’s choice of venue was highlighted as practical, given Swift’s familiarity with the arena from multiple past performances.
The wedding follows a public relationship that began after Kelce expressed disappointment on his podcast for not meeting Swift at a concert. Their engagement was announced in August via Instagram.
