Jaylen Brown traded to Philadelphia 76ers in multi-asset deal

Summary

The Boston Celtics have sent forward Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George, several draft picks and future considerations.

The Boston Celtics have completed a trade that sends forward Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers. The deal, first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, includes Paul George heading to Boston along with two first-round selections, two second-round selections and a conditional 2028 first-round pick that could become a swap pick favorable to Boston. Additional assets include an unprotected 2031 first-round pick and conditional second-round picks for 2028 and 2030.

Brown, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 draft, spent ten seasons with Boston, averaging 20.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He earned five All-Star selections, two second-team All-NBA honors and was named Finals MVP after the Celtics won the 2024 championship. In the 2025-26 season, with teammate Jayson Tatum sidelined by injury, Brown posted a career-high 28.7 points per game and finished sixth in MVP voting.

"Jaylen Brown is a big part of us. I don't want to predict the future. I look at it as this is our team," Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said.

"To all the people that's doubted me, that want me to do this, or want me, you're turning me into a monster," Brown said on his Twitch stream.

The trade follows earlier speculation that Brown was on the market after Boston’s failed attempt to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, a deal that ultimately sent Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. Brown’s move reunites him with Philadelphia center Joel Embiid, whom he previously criticized after a playoff series loss.
