Paramedics Attend Cardiac Arrest Call at Senator Mitch McConnell's Residence Amid Hospitalization
Police scanner audio shows paramedics responding to a cardiac arrest call at Senator Mitch McConnell's home on the same day his office announced his hospital admission.
Paramedics were dispatched to a report of a cardiac arrest involving an unconscious individual at the known residence of Senator Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., on the day his office confirmed he had been hospitalized, according to police scanner audio obtained by NBC News.
McConnell’s office, which has not disclosed the reason for his hospitalization, referred NBC News to a June 22 statement when asked about the audio. > "Senator McConnell is still working closely with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters as he continues his recovery. However, he will not be voting this week," the statement said, attributed to spokesman David Popp.
The office previously issued a brief notice on June 14 stating, "Senator McConnell was admitted to the hospital this morning. He is receiving excellent care." It has not confirmed whether he remains in the hospital.
The 84-year-old senator has experienced several health incidents in recent years, including a week-long hospitalization for flu-like symptoms earlier this year, a concussion after a fall at a Washington dinner three years ago, and a shoulder fracture in 2019.
