Celtics actively seek trade partner for Jaylen Brown

Boston Celtics general manager Brad Stevens confirmed the franchise is "strongly shopping" guard Jaylen Brown, according to NBA insider reports. Brown, who posted career-high numbers last season and earned All-NBA second-team honors, is being listed for trade as the team reassesses its roster strategy.

Sources say the Celtics have set an asking price that could include up to four future first-round picks along with additional players. Earlier speculation linked Brown to a package for Giannis Antetokounmpo that would have sent two first-round picks to Milwaukee, but that deal did not materialize. The club is now reportedly open to offers that combine draft assets and young talent.

Analyst Adrian Wojnarowski noted that several teams, including the Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers, have expressed varying levels of interest, though Portland’s interest was described as "moderate, at best." The Celtics are expected to evaluate whether lowering their price could secure a trade before the upcoming NBA Draft.

Former ESPN insider Zach Lowe said the market for Brown is likely to intensify, creating a bidding war among contenders. He added that while a trade may take time, a draft-pick-centric deal could accelerate negotiations.

Brown’s performance in the recent playoffs, highlighted by a 36-point effort in Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers, underscored his value despite the Celtics’ loss. The team will continue to assess his role as Jayson Tatum returns from injury.

"The most important thing right now is that we need to move Brown to stay competitive," said NBA analyst Shams Charania on a sports talk show.

The Celtics have not disclosed a timeline for finalizing a trade, and Brown remains under contract for the upcoming season.
