Australian man charged with murder after teen's body found in suitcase in Thailand
Thai police arrested an Australian man on murder charges after a 17-year-old girl's body was discovered in a suitcase near a railway line in Pattaya.
Thai authorities have charged an Australian citizen, Simon Peter Carman, with murder following the discovery of a 17-year-old girl's body inside a suitcase near a railway track in Pattaya. The teenager, identified in local reports as Tunchanok Donhomla, was reported missing on Friday afternoon. Police said CCTV footage showed Carman entering a condominium with the girl, later emerging alone with a large suitcase, which he placed on a motorbike and drove toward the railway line.
Carman was detained at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on Saturday morning as he attempted to leave the country. He has denied the murder charge and related allegations of moving or concealing a body and engaging in sexual activity with a minor, claiming self-defence. In a recorded message to the victim’s family, he expressed remorse, saying he felt “bad for what happened to your daughter” and that the incident was “out of my control.”
The police found the victim’s naked body in the suitcase about 15 minutes after Carman’s arrest. The investigation continues.
