Apple raises prices on Macs, iPads and other devices amid component cost surge

Resumen

Apple announced price hikes of 10% to 50% on several product lines, citing rising memory and storage costs, while also releasing iOS 27 beta 2 and outlining upcoming hardware updates.

Apple confirmed that it is increasing the list prices of many MacBook, iPad, HomePod, Apple TV and Vision Pro models, with some items seeing rises of 10% to 20% and a few exceeding 50%. The company said the adjustments are driven by unprecedented component cost increases, especially for memory and storage, and that suppliers expect elevated prices to continue through 2027. Apple added that it is working to mitigate the impact but feels compelled to pass costs to customers.

The price changes have not yet been reflected by most third-party retailers, prompting some buyers to purchase remaining stock from platforms such as Amazon before the new rates take effect.

In related news, Apple released the second developer beta of iOS 27, introducing a "Write with Siri" button in several native apps, enhancements to RCS messaging, and new integration that allows Apple TV updates via the iPhone Home app.

Bloomberg reported that Apple’s chip roadmap will skip a higher-end version of the upcoming M6 processor, accelerating development of the M7 family to deliver stronger AI capabilities. The base M6 chip is expected in lower-end Macs later this year, with M7 chips slated for the first half of 2027.

Apple also explained that watchOS 27 will not support five older Apple Watch models, limiting them to security updates. Executives said the new OS is intended to make the watch a "true co-partner to Apple Intelligence," a capability they say requires more advanced hardware.
