Indiana Fever hold out Caitlin Clark for Saturday game against Los Angeles Sparks
Caitlin Clark will miss the Fever's upcoming matchup with the Sparks due to ongoing back problems, coach Stephanie White said.
Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White announced Friday that guard Caitlin Clark will sit out Saturday's contest against the Los Angeles Sparks. Clark left the team's Wednesday loss to the Phoenix Mercury in the third quarter because of back discomfort, a condition that also caused her to miss a game on May 20 and has kept her listed as probable in subsequent lineups.
White said Clark is "OK" but did not confirm whether she will miss further games. She added that the team's week-long break after Saturday's game, with the next match scheduled for July 5 against the Las Vegas Aces, should give Clark additional time for treatment. "[Clark's] long-term health and wellness is the most important," White said.
Despite injuries limiting her to 13 games last season, Clark is averaging a career-high 21.2 points, 8.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game through 17 contests this season.
