The New York Police Department has been alerted to a potential increase in pedestrians and onlookers around Madison Square Garden on July 3, the date rumored for a wedding between singer Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce. Officers on patrol near the arena said they have received briefings about the expected presence of fans, media personnel and other spectators, and noted that the venue’s location in a busy Midtown transportation hub could amplify congestion.
Madison Square Garden, which hosts sports events, concerts and other large gatherings, has recently accommodated championship basketball games and a rise in World Cup-related travel, according to the officers. The venue’s design, which includes secure parking, drop-off areas and limited overhead photography, is cited as a factor that could make it suitable for a private ceremony.
"We’ve been briefed about a potential influx of fans and paparazzi on July 3," one officer, who asked to remain anonymous, told Variety.
Law enforcement officials said they are monitoring the situation but did not confirm any specific security plans for the rumored event.
