New York City officials have been issued street-closure, tenting and event permits for a ceremony scheduled for July 3 at Madison Square Garden, according to filings obtained by the New York Times. Law-enforcement sources told Deadline the permits pertain to a wedding involving singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
The permits limit attendance to fewer than 1,000 guests and indicate that nearby streets may be closed, a complication given the venue’s proximity to Penn Station and ongoing tourism for the FIFA World Cup. Several Chiefs personnel have reportedly reserved nearby hotel rooms, but Swift’s representatives have not responded to inquiries about the wedding’s details.
An industry source close to the couple suggested the event could be a low-key affair held elsewhere, noting the couple’s history of surprise appearances. The source said, "Don’t be shocked if it turns out to be a small affair far away from the spotlight."
No official confirmation has been provided by either Swift or Kelce, and speculation about the wedding’s location and scale continues.
Madison Square Garden has hosted a variety of large-scale events, including concerts, sports championships and occasional weddings, the most notable being a mass ceremony in 1982 that married over 2,000 couples.
