New York City officials have received a permit to close streets surrounding Madison Square Garden from July 2 through midday July 4, according to filing records. The venue is slated to host a wedding for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and singer Taylor Swift, with a small gathering of about 100 guests on July 2 followed by a larger reception for roughly 1,000 attendees on July 3.
"We are coordinating with local authorities to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow for the event," a city spokesperson said. Amtrak police have been alerted to the weekend’s activities, and several Chiefs players have reportedly booked rooms at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square for the same period.
