Brad Lander Wins Democratic Primary Over Incumbent Dan Goldman in New York's 10th District

Brad Lander secured the Democratic nomination for New York's 10th Congressional District, defeating two-term incumbent Rep. Dan Goldman, according to projected results. The district, which includes Lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, is heavily Democratic, making Lander the favorite in the upcoming November race against Republican nominee Jennifer Moore.

Lander's victory was bolstered by endorsements from city mayor Zohran Mamdani and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, as well as support from the Working Families Party. Governor Kathy Hochul and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries had backed Goldman, highlighting a split among party leaders.

"I've known Brad for some time, first as a colleague, as a friend, and over the course of this race and beyond, as partner in this work. And I knew then what we all know now, and what many of you all have known for years: Brad brings a kindness to this work," Mamdani said.

The campaign focused on U.S. policy toward Israel, with Lander stating he would advocate for Palestinian human-rights while opposing anti-Jewish bigotry.

"I will be one of the Jewish members of Congress most willing to stand up for Palestinian human rights, and I will stand firmly against bigotry aimed at Jews. Those are not two different jobs. They are the same job," Lander said after the projection.

Goldman, a former federal prosecutor who led the 2019 impeachment inquiry against former President Trump, conceded the race.

"Tonight, the voters of 10th District have spoken. While this is not the outcome I worked so hard for, I respect their decision. I called Brad and I wish him very well as he works to represent this amazing district," Goldman said.

Both candidates had criticized the administration's immigration policies and the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
