Autopsy Finds No Obvious Cause of Death for South Carolina Personal Trainer

Summary

A preliminary autopsy of 39-year-old personal trainer Elena Katherine Moore showed no external injuries, and investigators await further testing to determine the cause of death.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said a preliminary autopsy performed on Saturday found no bruising, cuts, gunshot wounds, stab wounds, blunt-force trauma, strangulation or other external injuries on the body of Elena Katherine Moore, a 39-year-old personal trainer whose death was confirmed on Friday. The coroner noted that additional histological studies and toxicology screening are still pending, and the official cause and manner of death remain undetermined.

Moore was reported missing after leaving a Planet Fitness location and heading toward a wooded area two weeks ago. Her husband filed a missing-person report the following day, prompting a search that later located a body in the same area wearing clothing matching Moore’s. Authorities identified the remains as hers.

A friend of Moore said she had expressed concerns about her safety in the weeks before she vanished, describing the trainer as feeling uneasy about her personal security.
