Second ransom note alleges missing Nancy Guthrie died after abduction
Investigators say a second note received by a Tucson TV station claims the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie died shortly after being kidnapped, while authorities continue to search for her.
A Tucson, Arizona television station received a second ransom note in the days after Nancy Guthrie, 84, was taken from her home on Feb. 1. Sources familiar with the investigation told ABC News that the note claims she died shortly after the abduction and was buried outdoors. The family had previously received another note demanding cryptocurrency for her return, which law enforcement deemed potentially credible and traced.
Savannah Guthrie, whose mother is missing, responded on Instagram on Feb. 7, acknowledging the message and stating the family would pay for her safe return. The family has repeatedly asked anyone with information to come forward.
Police have released doorbell-camera footage showing a masked individual at the Guthrie residence, but the suspect’s identity and the victim’s location remain unknown. The FBI is involved in the ongoing investigation.
