Panthers Acquire Brady Tkachuk from Senators in Exchange for Three First-Round Picks and a Second-Round Pick

Summary

Florida trades for forward Brady Tkachuk, reuniting him with brother Matthew, while Ottawa receives multiple draft selections.

The Florida Panthers have completed a trade to acquire forward Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators, sending three first-round picks and a second-round pick to Ottawa. The move reunites Tkachuk with his brother, Matthew, who is a key player for the Panthers and a two-time Stanley Cup champion.

According to TSN reporter Pierre LeBrun, other clubs were interested, but Florida secured the deal. Ottawa Sun columnist Bruce Garrioch cited sources indicating that Tkachuk had told the Senators he would not re-sign after his contract expires, prompting general manager Steve Staios to negotiate the trade.

Tkachuk, 26, posted 22 goals and 37 assists in 60 games during the 2025-26 season. He will become a free agent after the 2027-28 season. The Senators, who missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year, will add the draft assets to aid their rebuilding efforts.

The Panthers, coming off an injury-limited 2025-26 campaign, are expected to improve their standing in the Eastern Conference with Tkachuk’s addition.
