U.S. defeats Australia 2-0 to reach World Cup knockout stage

The United States moved into the World Cup knockout round after a 2-0 victory over Australia on Friday, marking its second consecutive win in the tournament. "C.P. is a fantastic player — the quality and the leadership that he gives us," Balogun said, adding that the team proved its capability without him.

"(He) is doing a fantastic job," coach Mauricio Pochettino said of Freeman, praising his development and attitude.

Australian coach Tony Popovic acknowledged the United States' performance, noting the team's clear power and athleticism.

"It did not surprise us because their quality is clear," Popovic said.

The win puts the United States in a strong position heading into the knockout phase, with coach Pochettino emphasizing the importance of continued belief and performance.
