Tarps Remain Over Kennedy Center Facade After Removal of Trump Name

Resumen

Workers removed President Donald Trump's name from the Kennedy Center's marble facade on June 13, but the covering tarps are still in place, leaving the building's appearance unclear.

Workers at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts installed large tarps on the building’s front on the morning of June 13 and, under a federal court order, removed President Donald Trump’s name from the marble facade. Center operations chief Matt Floca submitted a sworn declaration confirming the removal, and photographs taken that day showed the letters “A” and “D” missing from the inscription.

A week later, the tarps remain tightly fastened to the exterior, and no visual evidence has emerged that the original lettering—"The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts"—has been restored. Observers on site, including violinist Luna Woo, a participant in the National Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Music Institute, said they are unable to see behind the coverings.

The continued presence of the tarps has sparked speculation about whether any of the letters have been reinstated, but the center has not provided an update on the facade’s current condition.
