Jelly Roll Hospitalized for Sinus Infection Days Before Divorce Filing Made Public
Country rapper Jelly Roll was treated for a sinus infection in Charlotte, North Carolina, shortly before court documents revealing his divorce from Bunnie Xo were filed.
The singer, whose legal name is Jason Bradley DeFord, posted a TikTok on June 11 showing him receiving a bouquet from tourmate Post Malone and explaining that he had been admitted to a hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, for a sinus infection. He said doctors administered steroids and that he was "puffy-faced" but is now recovering.
The illness forced him to miss part of his performance on June 9 during Post Malone's Big Ass Stadium Tour, marking the first night he was unable to sing his song "Losers" while touring with Malone. He thanked the hospital staff for getting him back on his feet for the show.
Jelly Roll's next solo concert on his "The Little ASS Shed Tour" is scheduled for Saratoga Springs, New York.
Court records indicate that DeFord filed for divorce from his wife, Alisa Andrea Carter (known as Bunnie Xo), on May 18, listing the date of separation as May 9 and citing "irreconcilable differences." An insider suggested that growing tension over differing lifestyles, including religious beliefs and past personal histories, as well as the pressures of DeFord's expanding career and recent weight loss, contributed to the split. The couple had married in a Las Vegas courthouse in August 2016, survived a prior infidelity scandal, and renewed their vows in 2023.
