Daveigh Chase, known for voicing Lilo in Disney’s "Lilo & Stitch" and playing Samara in "The Ring," died at 35 in Los Angeles after complications from bacterial meningitis and a blood infection.

Daveigh Chase, who gained fame as the voice of Lilo in Disney’s 2002 film "Lilo & Stitch" and as Samara in the horror movie "The Ring," died on Tuesday at a Los Angeles hospital, her father John Schwallier confirmed. He said she succumbed to complications of bacterial meningitis and a blood infection and had been suffering from severe malnutrition. Schwallier added that Chase was homeless and living near the Los Angeles General Medical Center at the time of her death.

Chase’s career included the television series "Lilo & Stitch: The Series" (2003-2006) and a reprise of her role in "The Ring Two" (2005). She received an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain for her performance in "The Ring" the year after its release.

According to a report, Chase was living with a boyfriend before her death, though her father said he was unsure of the nature of their relationship and questioned why medical assistance was not sought earlier.

John Ryan Jr., who managed Chase for 15 years, described her as a close friend and said she was easy to work with.
