Two Injured in Shooting at Wilmington Hospital as Police Search for Suspect
Two individuals were shot inside Wilmington Hospital in Delaware while police conduct a search for a possible active shooter, prompting a campus lockdown and evacuation.
Police responded to a shooting at Wilmington Hospital on West 14th Street at about 3:30 p.m., finding two victims who were shot. The condition of the injured parties has not been released. Law enforcement agencies, including Wilmington Police, New Castle County Police and Delaware State Police, are conducting a search for a possible active shooter while the hospital remains on lockdown and patients are being diverted from the emergency department.
"Our priority remains the safety and well-being of everyone on our campus and the continuity of care for our patients," a ChristianaCare spokesperson said.
Authorities have asked the public to avoid the surrounding area, noting increased traffic near 12th Street and Delaware Avenue due to the investigation. Hospital staff are being evacuated as a police helicopter circles the scene.
State officials acknowledged the incident on social media, expressing concern for those affected and urging residents to follow updates from local authorities.
