Samsung Rolls Out One UI 8 With Enhanced Multitasking and Battery Features
Samsung's One UI 8, based on Android 16, introduces new multitasking options, dynamic wallpapers, improved notification features, and enhanced battery protection settings for its flagship smartphones.
Samsung has begun releasing its Android 16-based One UI 8 update to flagship devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, with broader availability expected for the Galaxy S25 series later in July 2025. Despite the short interval since One UI 7, the latest update brings several notable features and improvements.
One UI 8 introduces a new split-screen multitasking mode, allowing users to allocate up to 90% of the display to one app and 10% to another. This feature, integrated directly into the operating system, is particularly useful for large-screen devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, enabling more flexible multitasking.
The update also adds a home screen widget for alarm groups, making it easier for users to manage multiple alarms without opening the Clock app. Dynamic Wallpapers are now available, automatically adjusting the home and lock screen backgrounds based on the time of day, and the system can suggest suitable images from the user's gallery.
Samsung has enhanced the Now Bar and Now Brief features, expanding real-time notification support to third-party apps and providing additional information such as parking reminders and smart home alerts. Battery protection settings have been improved, allowing users to set maximum charge limits to help preserve battery health over time. Users can choose from several charging modes, including adaptive and manual limits, through the updated battery settings menu.
Additionally, Samsung is developing an "Alert Center" for future One UI 8 updates, which will centralize security and privacy management, including anti-theft tools and identity verification features.
