Apple lists Macs compatible with macOS Golden Gate

Résumé

Apple announced that macOS Golden Gate will run only on Apple-silicon Macs, publishing a full compatibility list and noting which older Intel models are no longer supported.

Apple unveiled macOS Golden Gate at its WWDC keynote and confirmed that the new operating system will run exclusively on Apple-silicon Macs. The company provided a compatibility list that includes the MacBook Neo (2026), MacBook Air (2020 and later), MacBook Pro (2020 and later), iMac (2021 and later), Mac mini (2020 and later), Mac Studio (2022 and later) and Mac Pro (2023 and later).

Four Intel-based models that were supported by the previous macOS Tahoe release will be dropped: the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019), the 13-inch MacBook Pro (2020) with four Thunderbolt 3 ports, the 2020 iMac and the 2019 Mac Pro. Apple said it will continue to issue security updates for macOS Tahoe, but users will need an Apple-silicon Mac to access the latest features of Golden Gate.
