Father and Two 10-Year-Old Sons Killed in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Canoga Park
Police say a father is suspected of killing his two 10-year-old sons before taking his own life in a Canoga Park home on Sunday.
Los Angeles fire crews responded to a shooting call at about 7:15 p.m. on Owensmouth Avenue in the city’s Canoga Park neighborhood. First responders found three victims – a father and his two 10-year-old sons – and pronounced them dead at the scene. The Los Angeles Police Department is treating the incident as a murder-suicide, with investigators believing the father was the shooter.
A large law-enforcement presence was observed around an apartment complex adjacent to a baseball field, and the area was cordoned off with crime tape. Residents and onlookers gathered nearby as detectives processed the scene and collected evidence.
"That's just really sad. Two little kids and a dad. That's a family. Nobody deserves that," said a woman who was present at the scene.
Detectives continued to work through the home for clues about the motive and circumstances surrounding the deaths. The investigation remains ongoing.
