Google has started distributing Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3 to supported Pixel devices, ahead of the stable release planned for September. This Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) introduces more substantial changes than the typical monthly updates and is described by Google as "suitable for general use."
The latest beta, identified as version BP31.250610.004, includes the July 2025 security patch. Eligible devices for the update include the Pixel 6 series, Pixel 7 series, Pixel 8 series, Pixel 9 series, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, and the Android Emulator. Most users can access the update through the Android Beta Program, though manual flashing and sideloading options are also available. For example, the over-the-air update for the Pixel 9a is 529 MB in size.
Users can report issues using the Android Beta Feedback app, which is accessible from the app drawer or Quick Settings. Feedback can also be submitted through the Google issue tracker or discussed in the Android Beta community on Reddit.
