Google releases Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 for select Pixel devices
The latest Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 update, available for Pixel 6a and newer models, includes seven bug fixes, while the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are temporarily omitted.
Google has rolled out Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 to its Pixel lineup, continuing the quarterly platform refresh that began with Beta 3 at the recent developer conference. The update addresses seven reported issues, ranging from an invisible mouse pointer on external displays when work profiles are active to a graphics driver regression that reduced 3D performance in OpenGL ES apps.
The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are not receiving this beta, a change Google clarified on a public forum, stating the devices will be included in the next beta release. The Pixel 6a remains in the program, along with other supported Pixel models.
"The plan is for Pixel 6 and 6 Pro to return in the next beta of QPR1," a Google representative wrote on Reddit.
Specific fixes include a Settings app crash when accessing credential provider settings from a Private Space, correction of screenshot sound behavior tied to the ringer volume, resolution of frame jumps during 5x zoom video recording, restoration of Back Tap gestures on the lock screen, and repair of Wireless ADB and local network connectivity issues.
